It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Marlon Neil Davis, who transitioned to his heavenly home on Sunday, March 2nd.
Marlon Neil Davis was born on September 25th, 1978, in Waynesboro, MS, to Jessie Lee and Omega Gray Davis. He was the youngest child in the family and was dearly loved by all who knew him.
Marlon grew up in the Pineville Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. M. K. Duncan, where he faithfully served as a drummer for the church choir. He was also a drummer at the First Missionary Baptist church in Heidelberg, MS, where his musical talents and dedication to worship left a lasting impact on all who heard him play.
Marlon was a 1997 graduate of Wayne County High School. He also attended Meridian Community College in Meridian, MS.
Professionally, Marlon was employed for many years at Toyota of TX., where he contributed to the Department of Leadership Development. He inherited his father's strong work ethic and was an excellent roofer with the J. L. Davis Construction Company. His hard work and dedication were evident in every endeavor he pursued.
Marlon was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Omega Gray Davis. He leaves to cherish his memory a loving father, Jessie Lee Davis; two sons, Marquez DeShaun Davis (San Antonio, TX.); and Jessie Hunter Davis (Phoenix, AZ.); two step-sons, LaChance' Kyree Howard and LaQuan Anthonique Howard, along with their mother, Wendi M. Hunter.
He is also survived by two brothers, Kenneth Maurice Davis (Gloria) of Saucier, MS., and Kevin Lydell Davis (Eugenia) of Killeen, TX.; one sister, Melissa Howard (Nathaniel) of Waynesboro, MS.; seven aunts: Ora Lee Chambers, Girtha Gray Chambers, of Waynesboro, MS, Mae Velma McCarty of Shubuta, MS., Merlean Gray Pugh, of Chillum, MD., Y'Dessie Davis of Atlanta, GA., and Jacqueline Viverette Davis, and Lela Mae Davis of Moss Point, MS.; one great aunt, Fannie M. Taylor of Brooklyn, NY.; one uncle, William Colley of Moss Point, MS.; a special friend, Tanyanda Jones of Heidelberg, MS.,and a host of cousins, other relatives, and dear friends.
Marlon's life was a testament to his love for family, friends, hard work, and music. He will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. As we reflect on his life, we find comfort in the words of the scriptures: "The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit." (Psalm 34: 18) Marlon's legacy of faith, love, and service to others will continue to inspire all who carry his memory in their hearts.
The funeral service for Marlon Neil Davis will be held on Thursday, March 6th, 2025, at the Pineville Missionary Baptist Church in Waynesboro, MS., where Rev. Sammuel Newton is the pastor. The final viewing will begin at 10: a.m., followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. The family invites all who knew and loved Marlon to join them in celebrating his life and legacy.
