Marlyce Ann Martin (Robb) was a wonderful and caring wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. Marlyce went to her heavenly home on May 26, 2023 at the age of 61 surrounded by her family after a courageous 14 month battle with cancer.
Marlyce was born in Flint, Michigan on May 3, 1962 to Bob and Doris Robb. She graduated from Ainsworth High school in 1980. At the age of 20, she moved to Oklahoma to attend Oklahoma Christian University where she earned a Bachelor's degree in Marketing. This is also where she met and fell in love with her husband, Jeff. They were married on October 11, 1986 in Flint, MI. Even though Marlyce lived most of her life in Oklahoma, she was a Michigan girl at heart. She loved her yearly trips to Michigan to visit family and some of her closest friends. There she enjoyed the cool summer nights, the lush landscape full of evergreens, the down-to-earth culture of her hometown and her Michigan sports teams. She always made sure she made it to some Detroit Tigers baseball games while home.
After Marlyce and Jeff married, she worked in insurance as an executive assistant for about 10 years, while also helping Jeff start and run their family's painting business. She became a full time mom when they started their family in 1995. Marlyce was an amazing mother; she provided unconditional love to her two daughters. She found her purpose through motherhood and told us that being a "mom" was by far her favorite "job".
Some of Marlyce's interests included interior design- she was creative and she had a great eye. Her style was ahead of her time, she would mix different styles from different decades making our home timeless and eclectic. She made our house a home and every piece within it is a part of her. Marlyce loved a cozy night at home, watching a movie, having dinner and spending quality time with her husband and daughters. She also liked other simple things, like running errands with her family- just doing normal things; she loved and valued the time she could spend those she loved. Marlyce loved her doggies- especially her Pit-mix. She named the stray puppy "Baby" and she definitely was Marlyce's baby; they had such a sweet bond. Marlyce also had a great sense of humor; she could make the most expressive and comical faces-her face could communicate what she was feeling or thinking and usually get a laugh. Marlyce's most defining character traits were her compassion and empathy for others. She was always concerned with how others were feeling and their well-being.
Marlyce leaves behind her husband of 36 years, Jeff, her daughters, Addison and Audrey, her sister Tammy VanWagoner, brother-in-law Rod VanWagoner, her niece, Heather Broyles and husband Forrest, and their children, Harper and Beckett, her nephew, Craig VanWagoner and wife Sara, her mother and father-in-law, Carol and James Martin, her brother and sister-in-law, Shawn and Molly Martin and their children, Kathryn and Garrison, as well as many other beloved friends and family. She is preceded in death by her mother and father, Doris and Bob Robb.
We will miss her and think of her daily, but peace is found in knowing this separation is only temporary and we will be united again eternally in heaven.
