Obituary published on Legacy.com by Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A. - Cumberland on Jul. 15, 2025.
In the predawn hours on Monday, July 14th, 2025, as she was surrounded by her loving and supportive family, the heavenly gates opened to reunite Marlyn "Tink" O'Baker with her beloved husband, Jerry "Poss" O'Baker and grandson, Austin O'Baker, who both had preceded her in death.
Tink was born in
Cumberland, MD to the late Perry "Mick" Cessna and Aretta Mae (Pryor) Cessna on 4/16/34. In addition to her parents, husband and grandson, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Robert "Ike" Cessna and Thomas "Butch" Cessna and sisters, Betty Brant, Dorothy "Dottie" O'Baker, and Shirley "Liz" Witt.
Coming from a family who were better known by their nicknames than their given names, Tink was affectionately known as the "Matriarch" or aka, "the Warden" of the O'Baker family tribe.
Tink is lovingly survived by her devoted children who will forever cherish her memory and the unconditional love that she gave them. They include, sons Jerry "France" O'Baker and Christine and Randy "Pork" O'Baker and Evelyn "Gigi", daughters Terry "Terse" Shockey and Gary "Sheb" and Lisa Robison and Steve; grandchildren Mindy Brailer and Michael, Brandon "Spike" Shockey and Chai, Brandi Hawkins and Mark, Chloe Robison and Bradie, Stephanie O'Baker, Jeremy O'Baker and Joni, and Misty Michaels and Craig. She is also survived by several great grandchildren, who were the light of her life, Alabama, Jayda, Jackson, and those who blessed her with daily visits and entertainment, Paisley, Everly, Kaylee, Lila, Ivy, Luke and Waylon. Tink is also survived by her brothers, John "Deedle" Cessna and Danny "Boonie" Cessna and Kelly, including several nieces and nephews.
Gracefully elegant to the end, Tink was known for her impeccable style-never seen without her signature coiffed hair and perfectly polished nails, a reflection of the beauty she carried both inside and out. She enjoyed watching Gunsmoke, John Wayne and Wagon Train, as she sipped her Sprite and grazed on munchies. She might have also been known for the thrill of finding a bargain at Goodwill, having a shoe fetish with
matching purses, and a palate for a tasty bowl of bean or potato soup. Tink worked in the bakery at Martin's Market, in her younger days, and was a member of the Barrelville Presbyterian Church.
We would like to thank her life-time hair dresser and special friend, Fay Crawford, and extra special heartfelt thankyou to Kelly Cessna and Crissy Martz, for all of the extra special care that you both had given Mom throughout her lifetime.
Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur Street,
Cumberland, MD, (www.AdamsFamilyFuneralHome.com) on Thursday July 17, 2025, from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.
A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday, July 18, 2025, at 12:00 P.M., with Pastor Jim Jeffries officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior.
Interment will be at Maryland Veterans Cemetery at Rocky Gap.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses and staff at UPMC Western Maryland and a special thank you to Dr. Anwar and the nursing staff in the Intensive Care Unit for their exceptional care, compassion, and support during her final days.
