Marsha Nurmi Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Arner Funeral Chapel - Chester from Aug. 31 to Sep. 10, 2025.
It is with heartfelt reflections that we share the news of Marsha D. Nurmi's passing on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at the Stone Pear Pavilion in Chester, after a brief illness. A beloved member of our community, Marsha lived a remarkable 81 years, leaving behind a legacy of love and compassion.
Born on December 13, 1943, in East Liverpool, Marsha was the daughter of the late Eugene and Helen Myers Seeley. She will be lovingly remembered as a devoted wife, mother, and friend, always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need. Her warmth and kindness touched everyone who knew her.
Marsha graduated from Chester High School in 1961 and pursued her passion for textiles by earning a bachelor's degree in Textile Retail and Marketing from West Virginia University in 1965. This education paved the way for her to establish and run Serendipity Sewing in Chester, a business that became a staple in the community. Marsha's commitment to her hometown was evident through her active participation in local events and organizations, including her lifelong membership at Westminster Presbyterian Church and leadership roles at the Chester Kiwanis Club. She was also a proud member of the Weirton Women's Club.
Marsha is joined in spirit by her parents and her cherished son, Bryan, who passed away in 2016, as well as her brothers, Fred and Jim Seeley. She is survived by her loving husband, David Nurmi; her daughter, Shannan Heath, and son-in-law, Robert from El Dorado, Arkansas; her brother, Steve Seeley from Atlanta, GA; and her adored grandchildren, Eva Nurmi, Ethan James, and Davin James.
We invite you to celebrate Marshas vibrant life at the Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. Evangelist Rico Brown will graciously officiate the service. Prior to the ceremony, friends are welcomed to visit and share cherished memories with the family from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the chapel. Marsha will find her final resting place alongside her parents at Locust Hill Cemetery. Let us come together to honor and remember this extraordinary woman who brought joy to so many.
