Graveside services will be held for Marshall Daniel Cain, Jr., a.k.a. Pook, 77, of Livingston, Texas on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at 2:00 p.m., at Magnolia Hill Cemetery in Segno, Texas. Visitation will be held Monday, August 18, 2025, from 5:00-7:00 p.m., at the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel in Livingston, Texas. Pook was born July 27, 1948 in Livingston, Texas. He married Lavone Kay Long on March 5, 1968; they were married 57 years and resided in Segno, Texas during those years. On August 12, 2025 at 77 years old, Pook gained his wings. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marshall and Alice Cain; brother, John Cain; and grandson, Joseph Johnson. Pook is survived by his wife, Kay Cain of Segno; sister and brother-in-law, Sissie and Gary Hendrix of Dallardsville; son, Michael Cain, of Segno; daughter and son-in-law, Stephanie and Joel Hendrix, of Livingston; grandchildren, Heather Ellis of Livingston, Summer and Victor Mathews of Livingston, Preston Cain of Livingston, Caitlyn Cain and Tristen Knapp of Point Blank, Savannah and Brad Shirley of Livingston, and Ben Johnson of Livingston; as well as great-grandchildren: Greyson Ellis, Axel Ellis, Piper Mathews, Sawyer Mathews, Tripp Mathews, Sadie Cain, Grant Cain, Saylor Harris, Tate Shirley, and Olivia Johnson. Pook worked in the logging woods until 1975 when he joined the Local 798 Pipeline Union of which he was a member for 50 years. Upon his retirement, he was able to do more of the things that he loved – fishing, hunting, and gardening; he passed this love down to his children and grandchildren. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather as well as a loyal friend. Pallbearers: Wesley Cain, Tyler Farrar, Rodney Hendrix, Rodney Land, Robert Leslie, Sam Overstreet, James Rogers, and Judd Russell. Honorary Pallbearers: Sam Jacks, Junior Overstreet, Wayne Russell, Buddy Steagall, Bo Tolar, and Abe Cox.
