Marshall Ogne was born in Chicago on January 18, 1936, to Lillian Ogne. Growing up, Marshall and his mother lived with Grandpa and Grandma Ogne, and his Uncle David, who was 10 years older. When Marshall was 12 years old, his mother married Bill Krueger. The family grew, and in the next few years, he gained two sisters, Louella Krueger Ward and Patricia Krueger Simonsen. Throughout his life, Marshall often expressed his deep appreciation for the love and support he received from his family, including his many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Marshall went to church regularly and accepted Jesus into his heart as a young boy. He started to read his Bible during preteen years and found Psalms 121 – which he claimed for his life.

Marshall graduated from Wheaton College in 1958 with a BS in Geology, and in 1972, he graduated with an MBA from Pepperdine University. His career began with scientific work at Lockheed in Rye Canyon, California, where he learned about astronomy and also worked in astrophotography at the Mount Wilson Observatory, studying the sun and the moon. In this work, he met astronauts and worked with a telescope that became part of the Skylab space station. In 1965, with scientists from Lockheed, he traveled to Chiang Mai, Thailand, to record a solar eclipse. After this, he worked in sales and marketing at Optical Coating Labs in Santa Rosa for twelve years. Later in his career, he returned to Lockheed, where he marketed their research laboratories, which included frequent trips to Europe, including many to Norway. He did extensive work with NASA during these years, representing Lockheed.

Following graduation from Wheaton, he married Joyce Hedstrom, whom he had met when he was sixteen. They were married on August 30, 1958 on the hottest day in Chicago that year. They took a five-day honeymoon and on September 5 th he was on the train at 7 AM to Fort Leonardwood, Missouri for Army basic training. Since he was drafted, he chose instead to sign up for three years so he could choose a field of study which was meteorology. Joyce was able to join him in New Jersey after basic training. After three months of study at Fort Monmouth, New Jersey, they moved to Fort Huachuca, Arizona for the next 2 ½ years.

On March 29 th 1960 Marshall received a Direct Commission to become an officer in the Army Reserves. Following his discharge from the Army as a 2 nd Lieutenant in 1961, Marshall and Joyce moved to Van Nuys. Their closest relatives were David and Charlotte Ogne (Uncle David!) and their four children. Later Marshall and Joyce moved to Saugus, California, which at the time was rural and wonderful place for their children Paul, Mark, and Mary-Beth to grow up in. During their children's growing up years, the family enjoyed and made lasting memories from camping trips to Convict Lake in the Eastern Sierras and Wawona near Yosemite. The family took the train or drove to Chicago a number of times during these years.

A year after receiving his MBA Marshall took the job in Santa Rosa (then population 40,000). A job change occurred in 1985, and Marshall and Joyce moved to the San Francisco Peninsula. They bought a house in Belmont where they lived for 21 years. Marshall and Joyce made four trips to Norway and Sweden during this time to visit each of their "homelands" and to spend time with family. Other trips were made to Denmark, England, France, and Switzerland. Many trips were made to their favorite places – especially to Lake Tahoe – and of course to Wisconsin.

In 2007 Marshall and Joyce moved to Covenant Village of Turlock. They always said, "This is the best decision we ever made!"

Marshall loved reading, listening to music, exercising and bike riding. He taught high school boys Sunday School classes and was a Young Life volunteer. He loved being a member of Redwood City's Sons of Norway and was voted president for a term. Marshall was very proud of his Norwegian heritage.

Marshall passed away peacefully on Friday September 19 th, 2025, in the Covenant Village Care Center where he had lived for 2 ½ years. The family is very appreciative of the outstanding care given to him.

Marshall was predeceased by his mother, stepfather, sister Patricia, and brothers-in-law, Dr. Alan Ward, Wayne and Bobby Hedstrom.

Marshall is survived by his wife, Joyce; their children: Paul Ogne (Nancy), Mark Ogne (Healani), Mary-Beth Ogne Roop (Mark); their grandchildren: Linnéa Roop, Kjerstin Pennington (Colton), Nicolette Ogne, and Noah Ogne; his sister, Louella Krueger Ward, and his brother-in-law Carl Simonsen.

Memorial Donations may be made in Marshall's name to: * Covenant Living of Turlock Benevolent Fund; * Young Life's Woodleaf Camp; * (son) Paul's church: Oviedo Presbyterian Church, Oviedo Florida
