Martel W. Sharp

Martel W. Sharp, 78 of Magnolia, Arkansas passed away after a brief illness on Monday, October 27, 2025, at South Arkansas Regional Hospital in El Dorado, Arkansas.
Martel was born December 31, 1946, in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. He graduated from Waldo High School in 1966, continued his education and graduated from Red River Technical School, and retired after 27 years with Alcoa, and drove a school bus for Magnolia Public Schools.
He was a faithful and active member of Calvary Baptist Church, loved hunting, fishing, gardening, and spending time with his family.
Martel is preceded in death by his parents Alvis and Hazel Hudgens, and his biological father David Edward Sharp, and brother in law Bud Williams.
Martel is survived by his wife of 19 years, Doris Sharp of Magnolia; daughter Sharon and Paul Story of El Dorado; sons, Michael Sharp of Richmond Kentucky and Charles and Angie Sharp of Magnolia; step children, Carrie and Mark and their spouses; bonus children Rhonda, Robin, Mitzi, and Keith; brother David Sharp of Waldo; sister Ellen Williams of Fayetteville, Arkansas; 5 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren with one arriving in March; and a host of extended family and friends.
The family would like to especially thank Dr. Matt Callaway; brother Luther Harris, and the nurses at Life Touch Hospice, Dr. Greg Smart, and the nurses in ICU and Step Down and staff at South Arkansas Regional Hospital.
A graveside service will be held at 9:00 AM on Thursday, October 30, 2025, at Shiloh Cemetery in Lamartine with Bro. Micah Carter and Bro. Jim Crane officiating under the direction of Lewis Funeral Home, Inc.
