Martha Joy Amon

Martha Joy Amon, "A True Southern Lady", 76, of Duluth died on Monday, the 3rd of July 2023. She was the daughter of the late Jerome B. Allen and Martha Parnell Allen of Atlanta, Georgia. Martha Joy attended the Arlington School in Atlanta and was a graduate of Headland High School, "Class of 1964". She attended West Georgia College and Georgia State University. Martha Joy was active in her church, St. Monica's Catholic Church in Duluth, which she was a member and taught religious education to the children of the parish. She was an officer in the 55 plus club at St. Monica's. Martha Joy worked for CLASS Inc. and St. Patrick's Catholic Church prior to her retirement. She was preceded in death by her son, Richard Hickey, granddaughter, Alicia, and step-daughter Julie Ann Amon. She and Paul had just celebrated their 31st wedding anniversary. She enjoyed dancing, especially ballet when she was younger, travel, grandchildren, and had a strong passion for animals. Surviving are her husband of 31 years, Paul J. Amon, Jr.; daughter, Tanya M. Hickey; step-daughter, Jenny Amon Fenig; and 5 grandchildren. A Memorial Mass will be held Monday, the 10th of July at eleven o'clock at the Catholic Church of St. Monica, 1700 Buford Highway, Duluth, GA 30097. In lieu of flowers contributions may be directed to the Atlanta Humane Society "In Memory of Martha Joy Amon". The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 5:30 until 7:30 at Crowell Brothers Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, Peachtree Chapel, 5051 Peachtree Industrial Boulevard, Peachtree Corners, Georgia 30092.
