Martha Hanes Bailey, 84, of Hope Mills, NC passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 16, 2022 with her husband by her side. She was born October 24, 1937 in Forsyth County to Gaynelle and GC Hanes. She married Wayne Bailey on August 5th,1956, with whom she shared 65 years and an unbelievable love story.
Martha was a devoted wife who once cared for her children while also working in order to put her husband through college. She held a real estate license and took courses so that she and her husband could build many homes together in the Fayetteville area. She loved her husband deeply and spent many years seeing the world by his side. Some of their favorite trips were those taken to the South Western States of the US. She also loved and took pride in her children; she has now been reunited in Heaven with her daughter, Beth McNeill.
Martha was a smart, artistic, independent woman. She loved her second home at Oak Island and made countless memories there with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed tending to her flowers and watching the bluebirds through her window. She was immeasurably tough and she always knew what she wanted, but she was also sweet, gentle, and beautiful through and through.
She is survived by her husband, Wayne Bailey; her son and daughter by marriage, Don and Audrey Bailey; a son-in-law, Tony McNeill; five grandchildren, Donald Noble, Jason Noble, Lee McNeill, Megan McNeill, and Amanda Bailey as well as three precious great-grandchildren, Alexis, Hayley, and Luna Noble. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Pulmonary Hypertension Association, 8401 Colesville Road, Suite 200, Silver Spring, MD 20910.
