Martha B. (Utyesonich) Byrd, age 84 of Caney died Friday, August, 8, 2025, surrounded by family. She was born October 7,1940, in Hot Springs, AR, the daughter of the late Blazo and Mary Utyesonich. She worked as an LPN in labor and delivery and was a member of Baring Cross Missionary Baptist Church in Arkadelphia. She was also a U.S. Air Force veteran from 1960-1962.
Martha was preceded in death by her first husband, Truit Smith, her second husband, William Byrd, and one brother, Joe Utyesonich.
Survivors include one son, David Smith and wife, Heather of Caney; one daughter, Ann Wheeler and husband, Roger of Aubrey, TX; one brother, Nick Utyesonich and wife, Judy of Hot Springs; one sister, Mary Botter of Hot Springs; five grandchildren, Caleb Smith, Katelyn Smith, Daniel Smith of Caney, and Matthew Wheeler, and Harrison Wheeler of Texas.
Visitation: Monday, August 11, 2025 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Baring Cross Missionary Baptist Church. Funeral services: 10:00 am Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at Baring Cross Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Ronnie Hardin officiating. Interment will be in the Caney Cemetery under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Home, 517 Clay Street, Arkadelphia, Arkansas. www.smithfamilycares.com
