Martha Newsome Davis, 81, of Wilson passed away Sunday, February 8, 2026, at the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield.
Martha was born on March 6, 1944, in Salisbury, NC to the late Byron Brantley Newsome and Rachel Emily Aides. After graduating from Needham Broughton High School in 1962, she attended East Carolina University for 2 years. Martha worked as a Regional Executive Sales Assistant for 20 years with Purina Mills, Inc., and then became an Executive Assistant for Performance Heating and Cooling, Inc. for 13 years. Both employers were in Wilson.
Martha spent the majority of her life in Wilson, NC where she was active in her community. Membership in various clubs was important to her, and she even volunteered at Meals on Wheels in honor of her mother. She was a member of Golden Circle Optimist and Wilson Woman's Club. She served as the President of Eureka Ruritanettes and Secretary for the Wilson Newcomers Club. Martha also was a member of Westview Christian Church. As hobbies, Martha enjoyed going to the beach and shopping with family and friends; she was known for her sense of style. Spending time with her grandchildren gave her tremendous joy!
Martha is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Davis Farmer; son, Charles Edward Davis and wife, Angela Devine-Davis; grandson, Michael Harrison Farmer, II; granddaughter, Elizabeth Byron Farmer; grandson, Christian Edward Davis; and several nieces and a nephew.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Byron Brantley Newsome, Jr.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at Montlawn Memorial Park, 2911 S. Wilmington Street, Raleigh, NC 27603.
Donations in Martha's memory may be directed to the American Heart Association or Special Olympics.
