Martha Flo' Evans was born on February 14, 1931, in Troy, Mississippi. She went to be with her Lord and Savior on December 31, 2025, at the age of 94.
Martha was raised as a proud Mississippi girl by Leonard and Jewel Priest. After graduating from Delta State Teachers College with a Degree in Music and Education, she went on to Texas Woman's University and received her Graduate Degree in Music.
Martha married Ray Evans, Jr on June 7, 1953. They moved to Dallas and raised their 3 children in Pleasant Grove. They joined Pleasant Mound United Methodist Church and for the next 46 years Martha played the organ and piano. Martha also worked with the youth and served on several of the church committees. For 20 years, Martha loved teaching 2nd grade at John Ireland Elementary.
After Ray had passed in 1999, Martha moved to
Rockwall, TX and joined Heath United Methodist Church. There she served in the choir, was on church committees, and loved her lady friends in the "Sisters" group, as well as enjoying HATS (Heath Area Terrific Seniors).
Martha was a servant at heart. For years, she enthusiastically volunteered at the Methodist hospital in Oak Cliff. She played the piano at nursing homes in Rockwall and Rowlett for the residents until she could no longer drive in her late 80's. She received so much joy playing the piano and singing familiar hymns.
Her first love was as a wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Cooking, hosting, during the holidays were dates she always looked forward to. Attending grandkids sporting events, or dance recitals, she missed few.
She is survived by her daughters Debbie Hall, Laurie Shaver, and son Ray Evans III. Martha had 6 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
Everyone who knew Martha knew she loved life. Family vacations and reunions, Bowling trips with Ray and friends, Church Youth Group trips, or later in life her "Gaudy Girl" trips with 3 of her best friends, she was always ready to go.
In lieu of flowers, Martha would love for you to consider donating to St. Judes or Scottish Rite hospital.
The family would like to thank Heart to Heart-Rockwall, Visiting Angels-Rockwall, and a special heartfelt thank you to Cathy, Tina, Amanda, and Kyndel for their love and care of Our Sweet Mom.
