Martha, de corazón vivaz y naturaleza independiente, terminó sus estudios en tercer grado, pero su sabiduría, bondad y determinación la llevaron lejos. Construyó una vida llena de amor y alegría como ama de casa, aprovechando cada oportunidad para cuidar de sus seres queridos.
Fue en Texas donde Martha conoció al amor de su vida, Raúl, gracias a un vínculo familiar: su primo estaba casado con su hermana. Su vínculo se convirtió en un matrimonio que duró 35 años hasta su fallecimiento en 2011. Juntos, formaron una familia que se convirtió en el centro del mundo de Martha.
Martha será recordada como una mujer divertida y llena de vida que disfrutaba de los placeres sencillos de la vida. Le encantaba bailar, comprar en JCPenney y Walmart, y cuidar sus plantas y flores. De corazón, una mujer elegante, siempre se enorgullecía de su apariencia. Sus nietos la adoraban y disfrutaba cada momento que pasaba con ellos.
Martha, una talentosa cocinera, era especialmente conocida por las tortillas de harina frescas que preparaba a diario, siempre deliciosas y hechas con mucho cariño. Cocinar y la jardinería eran sus pasiones, y a través de ambas expresaba su creatividad, generosidad y dedicación.
El legado de Martha es de amor, alegría y una devoción inquebrantable a su familia. La extrañaremos profundamente y la recordaremos por siempre.
A Martha le precedió en la muerte su esposo, Raúl García. Le sobreviven su hija, Martha Nidya Barajas; y sus nietos, Isela, Iliana, Tony y Naomi Barajas.
El velatorio se realizará de 17:00 a 21:00 h el jueves 11 de septiembre de 2025 y de 10:00 a 11:00 h el viernes 12 de septiembre de 2025 en la Funeraria Symonds-Madison, 305 Park Street, Elgin, IL 60120.
La misa será a las 11:30 h el viernes 12 de septiembre de 2025 en la Iglesia de Santa María de Elgin, 400 Fulton Street, Elgin, IL 60120.
El entierro se realizará posteriormente en el Cementerio Mount Hope, 1001 Villa Street, Elgin, IL 60120.

Martha Hizela Garcia, age 84, of Elgin, IL, passed away on September 6, 2025. She was born August 17, 1941 in Mexico to her loving parents, Guillermo and Josefa Landa.
Born with a spirited heart and an independent nature, Martha's schooling ended in the third grade, but her wisdom, kindness, and determination carried her far. She built a life filled with love and laughter as a homemaker, cherishing every opportunity to care for those closest to her.
It was in Texas that Martha met the love of her life, Raul, through a family connection-his cousin was married to her sister. Their bond grew into a marriage that lasted 35 years until his passing in 2011. Together, they raised a family that became the center of Martha's world.
Martha will be remembered as a funny, vibrant woman who took joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved to dance, shop at JCPenney and Walmart, and tend to her plants and flowers. A "fancy lady" at heart, she always took pride in her appearance. Her grandchildren adored her, and she delighted in every moment she spent with them.
A talented cook, Martha was especially known for the fresh flour tortillas she prepared daily-always delicious and made with love. Cooking and gardening were her passions, and through both she expressed her creativity, generosity, and care.
Martha's legacy is one of love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to her family. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished in the hearts of all who knew her.
Martha was preceded in death by her husband, Raul Garcia. She is survived by her daughter, Martha Nidya Barajas; and grandchildren, Isela, Iliana, Tony and Naomi Barajas.
Visitation will be 5:00pm to 9:00pm, Thursday, September 11, 2025, and 10:00 am to 11:00am, Friday, September 12, 2025 at Symonds-Madison Funeral Home, 305 Park Street, Elgin, IL 60120.
Mass will be at 11:30am, Friday, September 12, 2025 at St. Mary Church of Elgin, 400 Fulton Street, Elgin, IL 60120.
Interment to follow at Mount Hope Cemetery, 1001 Villa Street, Elgin, IL 60120.
Final arrangements entrusted to Symonds-Madison Funeral Home. For more information, call 847-741-1128.
