Martha Sansone Heath, 68 of Blairsville, GA born on October 3, 1956 in Hartford CT, passed away on July 13, 2025 after a protracted battle with cancer.
She is survived by her husband Steven, her brother Gordon Sansone of Westbrook, CT and her nephew Christopher Sansone of Middletown, Connecticut, her sisters-in-law Geraldine P. Heath of Sugar Hill, GA and Laura H. Mara and her husband Frank of Johns Creek, GA, nephews Patrick Mara of Sandy Springs, GA, Kevin Mara of Decator, GA and Jonathan Mara of Duluth, GA, and her extended family in Florida and Connecticut. She is preceded in death by her parents, Salvatore and Moselle Sansone and her brother, Peter Sansone.
Martha grew up in a large Italian family in Hartford, CT and spent her summers at the beach in Westbrook on Long Island Sound. After a career of working in financial services, Martha and her husband Steve moved from the Hartford area to Blairsville, GA to enjoy the mountains and Lake Nottely. She will be missed by her many friends in Blairsville and at the lake, Connecticut and afar.
Martha and her husband Steve were an inseparable team who made the most of their life together. She welcomed all to her home with an open heart and a full table. Martha was a free spirit and who brought joy and optimism to everything she did. She faced her illness with resolve and bravery.
Martha’s family would like to express their appreciation for the care and support provided by her doctors, physician assistants, nurses, other members of her care team and the friends and neighbors who helped sustain her over the course of her sojourn.
A funeral mass will be held for Martha at Saint Francis of Assisi Church, 3717 GA-515, Blairsville, GA on Friday, July 25th at 11AM. Calling hours will be held Thursday, July 24th from 6 to 8PM at Cochran McDaniel Funeral Home, 41 Hunt Martin St, Blairsville.
Flowers may be sent to Cochran McDaniel or donations in lieu of flowers may be sent to the American Cancer Society.
