Martha Jane Tomson, 81, of Zanesville, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 4, 2026, at her residence.
Martha was born on October 31, 1944, in Zanesville, the daughter of the late Earl and Beatrice Tomson.
Martha devoted her career to Muskingum County Job and Family Services where she touched the lives of countless individuals with her compassion and dedication. Over the years, she served in several roles before retiring, always committed to helping others. Martha had a unique way of maintaining many friendships while remaining a very private person. She was generous, giving, and deeply thoughtful in her friendships.
Martha enjoyed going to lunch with the “Silver Foxes,” a group of retired ladies from Muskingum County Job and Family Services, and attending monthly lunch gatherings with her 1962 Philo High School classmates. She loved her cat, Toby, and cherished living in Chateau Estates in Zanesville for the past 45 years, where she made many lasting friendships.
She enjoyed watching television, especially the news, was strong in her faith, and took great pride in caring for her flowers. Martha was known for her kindness and thoughtfulness and was especially remembered for sending the most meaningful cards and handwritten notes to her close friends.
Martha leaves behind many cherished friends and family members. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her Brother, Allen Tomson.
A graveside service will be held at 2 pm on Monday, March 2, 2026, at Chandlersville Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest beside her parents.
