Martha (Martie) Lee Manthei
Martie Manthei, 87, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 28, 2024. Martie has struggled with Alzheimer's in her later years but kept her spirits up with her continued whit and orneriness.
Martie was born November 25, 1936, in Olathe, KS to Clarence and Grace (Edie) Sheffer.
Martie grew up with her family in Olathe, KS and later raised her 6 children with Arthur Boehm there. Arthur & Marthie were married on December 28, 1958. Although they entered the marriage with the best intentions it was less permanent than expected. Martie later remarried John Manthei on February 4, 1992. The same year they both retired, moving to Lake Pomme de Terre near Nemo, Missouri, where she resided until 2022. Martie had an incredible talent for cooking and crocheting. She shared her passion by giving her memorable food, countless crocheted items and volunteering time to the local communities in need. As an active member in her church, she continued to serve the Lord through her enjoyment of bible study and spending time with countless friends.
Martie is preceded in death by her parents Clarence and Grace Sheffer, sister Betty J. Enright and daughters Debbie and Denise Boehm. She is survived by her brother Donald Sheffer of Chanute, KS; Children Dennis Boehm of Olathe, KS, Deena Dinges of Overland Park, KS; Doug Boehm of Ottawa, KS and Darrin Boehm (Brandi) of Olathe, KS; Grandchildren Danielle Maley (Chris) of Baldwin City, KS; Jordan Boehm of Olathe, KS; Tyler Boehm of Harrisonville, MO; Morgan Boehm of Fayetteville, AR and Jason Boehm of South Carolina; Great-grandchildren Brayden Boehm of Harrisonville, AR; Jackson, Harrison and Katherine Maley of Baldwin City, KS; and Lillianna Boehm of Olathe, KS.
Private services will be held for the family of Martie on Friday July 26 at 9:00am at Fort Leavenworth National Cemetery.
