Martha E. Scott, 85, passed away peacefully on April 10, 2024, in Cypress, Texas surrounded by her loved ones. Martha was born on June 14, 1938, in San Jose, Costa Rica, where she was raised by her parents Frank E. Scott and Luisa Rivas Scott. Martha grew up on a banana farm, along with her 3 sisters Luisa, Mayra, and Margarita.
Martha immigrated from San Jose to Los Angeles, California in the late 1950's. That's where she met her ex-husband Boris Jervis, with whom she had two wonderful children, David and Denise. Boris and Martha raised and enriched their children's lives with moral values, love, and many adventures. In the 1970s, they decided to move to Ecuador, where they lived between Quito and Manta. During their marriage, Martha and Boris traveled and visited many countries in Europe and Latin America.
Martha lived 30 years of her life in Ecuador, where she shared many years with the Jervis-Troya family and where she created great long-lasting friendships. In 2006, Martha decided to return to the United States to live the rest of her life with her children and their families in Cypress, Texas. Martha dedicated the last 30 years of her life to her children's family. Helping raise her grandchildren, giving them unconditional love and affection.
Marthita, as she was known by many, was a very loving and affectionate mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, with a great sense of humor and a contagious smile. Marthita lived life to the fullest as she took pleasure in many activities such as playing cards with her friends, playing tennis, swimming, riding motorcycles, camping in the mountains, and going to the beach. In her later years, Marthita liked to spend her summers in California with her sister Margarita. Where she was delighted by the good weather, wine, and the great company of family and friends. In her professional life, Martha was an English teacher in schools in Ecuador. Martha was also a proud owner of her business "Piladora Marthita", which she ran with the help of her son David.
