Martha Sue Slimp

Decatur ~ Martha Sue Slimp, 81 went to be with our Lord Friday, August 4, 2023.
Funeral Service is 2 PM Wednesday, August 9, 2023 at First Baptist Church of Decatur with burial following at Oaklawn Cemetery. Family will receive friends 5-7 PM Tuesday at Hawkins Funeral Home in Decatur.
Clyde Harold Slimp and Kendall Dethloff will officiate. Pallbearers will include Brandon Graybill, Keith Long, Bud Smith, Josh Reynolds, Allen Dethloff, Johnathan Smith, Dwaine Taylor, Billy Paddock, and James Dale Slimp.
Sue was born August 16, 1941 to Carol and Cleta Oleta (North) Taylor in Decatur. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Decatur, Texas. Sue completed school and married Doyle Slimp on June 8, 1956 in Decatur. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend to all that knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Rev. Doyle Ray Slimp; her brother, Dennis Taylor; and her step-dad, Leo Dethloff.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are her son, Rick Slimp and wife Karen of Decatur; her grandchildren, Jeremy Slimp and wife Taylor of Decatur, Eric Slimp of Fort Worth, Kayla Scoggins and husband Chad of Hurst; her great-grandchildren, Kaidan Slimp and Marcie Slimp of Decatur, Madelyn Slimp and Ryan Slimp of Fort Worth, and one on the way; her siblings, Wanda Salinas and husband Tony of Decatur, Leta Paddock and husband Dennis Kirby of Springtown, Rosie Lang and husband Robert of Bridgeport, Diann Long and husband Terry of Bridgeport, Lisa Wages and husband Terry of Bridgeport, Alvin Dethloff and wife Kelli of Chico, and Leon Dethloff and wife Robin of Bridgeport; and many other extended family and friends.
