Martha Tharp

Martha Bette (Lozier) Tharp, 90, of McAlester, Oklahoma passed away on Saturday, February 14, 2026.

A graveside funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 17, 2026 at the Veterans Colony Cemetery, near Wilburton,

Oklahoma with Pastor Chip Lott officiating. Martha will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband, Eugene.

Martha was born on May 8, 1935 in Moore, Oklahoma to Marion B. Lozier and Thelma M. (Whitten) Lozier. She married Eugene Tharp following his honorable discharge from the United States Army in 1953. Martha and Eugene made the Veterans Colony their home.

Martha worked outside the home as an administrative assistant at Eastern Oklahoma State College for many years.

She is survived by her daughter, Diana Denton; brother, Ralph Lozier; children by choice: Joe Younger and wife, Sandy, and Fran Greathouse; grandchildren: Kevin Younger, Derrek Younger and wife, Pam, Jeana Hartless, and Wes Tharp; 7 great grandchildren; and numerous great-great grandchildren.

Martha was preceded in death by her husband, Eugen Tharp on June 29, 2017; her son, Darrell Tharp; parents: Marion and Thelma Lozier; brother, Roger Lozier; and sister, Wanoma Francione.
