The Thomas family lived around the block from us during my childhood, and I have no memories of not knowing them. Martha and I were born 6 months apart, and she has always been a dear friend of mine, along with her sibs and parents. We went to countless parties and dances during high school, and have had innumerable good times together. Add to this the wonderful times at Liberty Lodge. And I spent many seasons working at Georgetown Laundry. Her departure fills me with nostalgia, more than a little sadness, and fond memories. Rest in peace, my dear friend.
