Martha Lynn Thompson, 86, of Canyon, TX passed away Monday, October 20, 2025.
The family will receive friends at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home in Amarillo from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M., Thursday, October 23, 2025, and a viewing will take place at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home in Vega from Noon to 5:00 P.M., Friday, October 24, 2025.
Graveside services will be at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, October 25, 2025, at Memorial Park Cemetery at Vega with her son-in-law, Michael Erickson officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Martha was born in Dawson County, Texas, on January 4, 1939, to Tempie (Harris) and Xerxes Weatherford. She graduated from O'Donnell High School in 1957 and then attended Draughon's Business School. Martha married James D. Thompson on December 21, 1959 in O’Donnell, TX. Martha was a homemaker who also worked for some time at the Oldham County Tax Office. In 1979, she became the District and County Clerk for Oldham County, a position she held until her retirement in 1995. For many years, she served as the treasurer and secretary for the Oldham County Country Club. She attended the First Baptist Church in Vega and enjoyed reading and doing crafts. Most importantly, she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Martha was preceded in death by her husband, James D. Thompson; her parents; her sister, Doris June Weatherford; and her brother, Charles Frank Weatherford.
Survivors include her son, Jim Thomspon and Annia Guillen of The Woodlands, TX; daughters, Julie Crist and husband Clay of Wildorado, TX, and Jerri Erickson and husband Michael of Pampa, TX; grandchildren, Cassie Carthel, Carissa Frerich, Cailey Sirmon, Camryn Thompson, Ryan Thompson, John Thompson, Seth Erickson, and Matthew Erickson; great-grandchildren, Annalee, Daniel, Kynleigh, Kyndall, Brielle, Keeley, Claire, Caelynn, Brittyn, Callie, and another on the way.
