Martha Jane Turner (Dedo), 89, widow of Grady Hugh Turner, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 19, 2025, at her home surrounded by family. She was born on January 21, 1936, to the late Paul Horatio and Fannie Mae Henderson Gossett.
Born and raised in Wellford, Martha was a proud graduate of James F. Byrnes High School. She spent many years as a dedicated supervisor with Raycord Textiles. At the age of 60, Martha returned to school to earn her Ward Secretary Certificate with Spartanburg Tech. She then became a Ward Secretary with Spartanburg Regional, providing compassionate support to patients and staff alike.
Martha was known for her vibrant spirit and love of life. She had a passion for dancing and could often be found enjoying music with family and friends. Her culinary skills were equally celebrated, especially her homemade biscuits, which she lovingly made for everyone in her life. Martha was a long-time devoted member of First Baptist Spartanburg.
Martha is survived by her sons, Maxwell Kevin Turner (Andrea) Augusta, GA, Michael Turner (Elaine) Awendaw, SC and bonus son, Danny Gosnell of Duncan, SC; grandchildren, McKenna Turner, Carson Turner, Daniel Gosnell, Penny Gosnell, and Candi Thompson; great grandchildren, Kimber, Isaac, Lucas, Dani, Link and Paxton; sister, Mary Gossett; nieces, Carolyn Brooks and Trisha; and numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins.
Along with her parents and husband, Martha is preceded in death by her siblings, Gladys Gosnell, Paul Gossett, and Wayne Gossett.
Memorial Services will be Saturday, June 14, 2025, at 1:00pm at J.M. Dunbar Funeral Home & Crematory, 690 Southport Road, Roebuck, SC 29376. The family will receive friends following the service.
