Martin Randolph Ackerman

Martin "Marty" Randolph Ackerman, age 83, of Aurora, passed away Sunday, February 2, 2025 surrounded by family. Marty is the beloved husband of 26 years to Linda (nee Buckel); devoted father of David (Tara) Ackerman, Jonathan (Jenna) Ackerman and head of a wonderful blended family including Charles (Paige) Hobey, Michael (Erin) Hobey, Erin (Josh) Wang and Steven (Megan) Martell; cherished grandfather of Elijah & Raleigh Ackerman, and Mikah, Isabella, & Kendall Ackerman and blended grandchildren, Bailey, Avery & Claire Hobey, Sebastiana & Genevieve Hobey, Lillian & Ezekiel Wang and Henry & Sadie Martell.
The only son of Florence "Bubs" and Edward Ackerman, Marty grew up in East Cleveland, attended Hawken School for boys and Shaw High School. A proud 1963 graduate of Miami University he went to work for Samuel Moore while serving in the Army National Guard. A resident of Hudson for almost 50 years, Marty was involved in coaching both of his sons' Kiwanis baseball teams throughout their youth. He loved to play golf and tennis and was a long time member of both the Hudson Tennis Club and Western Reserve Racquet Club where he played competitively. Marty was a lifelong Cleveland sports fan, attending every home game of the Browns championship season in '64 and followed the ups and downs of the Browns, Cavs and Indians/Guardians in the following years. Marty loved to laugh and was known by his friends for his kindness and dedication, his business associates as a man of honesty and integrity, and his family for his love and devotion.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made in Marty's name to the Alzheimer's Association (www.alz.org).
A Memorial Gathering to celebrate Marty's life will be held 2-3PM SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 22, 2025 at Johnson-Romito Funeral Home, 19 E. Main St., (on the square), Hudson, OH where closing remarks will begin at 3:00PM.
