Martin Livingston Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Walnut Lawn Funeral Home - Springfield on Nov. 26, 2024.
Marty Livingston, 73, of Aldrich, MO, passed away on November 24, 2024, in Kansas City, MO. A beloved father, brother, and friend, Marty left behind a legacy of resilience, devotion, and adventure that will forever be cherished.
He is survived by his daughters, Ashley (Preston) Miller and Mikaila Livingston; step-sons, Chris Strankmeyer and Shawn (Kristen) Strankmeyer; his brothers, Tom Livingston and Dan (Cathy) Bohlken; and six grandchildren who brought him immense joy. Marty also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, and countless friends who loved him dearly.
He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Cindy Livingston; his parents, Maurice and Elizabeth Livingston; and his sister-in-law, Trish Livingston.
A proud Marine who served during the Vietnam era, Marty exemplified the values of honor and perseverance both in his military service and throughout his life. He carried this legacy forward as a dedicated member of IBEW 124.
Marty was also a proud and active member of the Warrior Watch Riders. He was an accomplished outdoorsman who found peace and thrill in hunting, trap shooting, and fishing. He had a passion for the open road, relishing the freedom of riding his Harley. His hard-headed, stubborn, and ornery nature was matched only by his big heart and unwavering loyalty to those he loved.
Marty's stories, wisdom, and vibrant spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. His family finds comfort in knowing he is now reunited with Cindy, the love of his life.
A wake will be held at 11:00 AM on December 20, 2024, at Walnut Lawn Funeral Home, 2001 West Walnut Lawn Street, Springfield, MO 65807. A memorial service and final salute will follow at 12:30 PM. Marty will be escorted by the Warrior Watch Riders to Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield, MO, for a committal service at 2:00 PM where he will receive full military honors and then laid to rest next to Cindy.
In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to Warrior Watch Riders, 1175 W Oakville Rd., Springfield, MO 65810.
Semper Fi, Marty. You will be missed but never forgotten.

Marty Livingston & I went through the IBEW 124 Apprenticeship program together & we attended our "Certificate of Completion Presentation" together along with 35 other Graduates, the Class of 1978 held at the Alameda Plaza Hotel on November 15, 1978. Marty was very much a driven participant in our Vacuum Tube Studies at the Training Center. My memories of him make me smile, always. Rest in Peace Marty.
