Martin Lee Moore was born September 26, 1967, to John M. and Jane Moore. He passed away December 14, 2023, at the age of 56.
He married his devoted, loving wife of 25 years, Kelly Tolleson Moore, on December 19, 1998. They have 3 beautiful children, Emily, Blake and Drew. These children were Marty’s pride and joy.
Marty was a devoted family man. He loved nothing more than spending time with his family. He dearly loved his wife, his kids, his brother and sisters, all his nieces, nephews and his aunt and uncle. Marty so looked forward to all of our family gatherings!
Marty attended Hawkins Schools from kindergarten through twelfth grade. He was an honor graduate in 1986. During his high school years, he participated in football, basketball, and track. As quarterback of the football team, he helped take the Hawks into the playoffs. He and his basketball teammates also went to the playoffs. In track, Marty was a state qualifier in pole vault. He and his 1600-meter relay teammates also qualified for the state meet where they received the bronze medal. Marty was a proud Hawkins Hawk! Upon graduation Marty attended Trinity Valley Community College where he continued his football career as a quarterback for the Cardinals. He continued his education at Stephen F. Austin University where he earned his bachelor’s degree in history.
Marty’s teaching and coaching career started at Livingston I.S.D. Then he moved on to Barbers Hill, Chapel Hill, Union Grove and Hawkins. While in Union Grove and Hawkins, he served as the head coach and athletic director. Through his career he felt privileged to work with many great coaches who became life-long friends.
Marty was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, children and siblings, Melanie Pool and husband, Mark of El Campo, John and wife, Julie of Lindale and Melissa and husband, Kevin of Hawkins. He is also survived by his in-laws, Robin and Rita Tolleson of Mont Belvieu, sister-in-law Jenny Garcia and husband Robert of Mont Belvieu, his uncle Tom Little and wife, Susan of Dallas and many loving nieces and nephews.
Honorary pallbearers are Marty’s former high school and college coaches, his coaching colleagues, and former players.
A memorial scholarship fund, (Kelly Moore Scholarship Fund), has been set up at Texas Bank and Trust in Gladewater. Donations in Marty’s memory may be made there.
Memorial services for Marty will be held on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at 10AM at Summit Heights Fellowship Church in Hawkins.
