Martin Shuster Obituary

Published by Legacy on Dec. 26, 2024.
Martin J. Shuster passed away peacefully on December 19, 2024. He was 56 years old. In his last days, Marty was surrounded by loving family members and friends.
Marty was born in New Prague, Minnesota on March 20, 1968 to Ernest and Ellen Shuster. When Marty was 11, his Father unexpectedly passed away. Marty missed him terribly his entire life. Marty was surrounded by men who shaped his future and helped him develop his interests in manufacturing, aviation, racing, cars and motorcycles. Bill Miller, his Stepfather, and Joe Shuster, his Uncle, were his guiding lights while navigating his teenage years.
At age 16, Marty obtained his pilot's license. His interest in aviation was inspired by his Stepfather Bill Miller and his Uncle, Mike Miller. His first passenger after passing his flight test was his Mom! Marty skillfully piloted high-performance single and twin engine airplanes and enjoyed performing aerobatics in a Piper Cub.
Marty was an avid Georgia football fan (Go Dawgs)! Marty also played right wing for the University of Georgia hockey team. After graduating from college, Marty co-founded Miller-Leaman, Inc. in 1991, a filtration manufacturing company. Marty was a brilliant and talented entrepreneur and was passionate about his work. He was loved and respected by his coworkers and customers and was known for his innovative approach, quick sense of humor, his dedication to serving customers and "Can Do" attitude.
His love for aviation was only surpassed by his love of racing. He loved all things FAST but sports cars were his passion. He competed in various racing events, including the Rolex 24 in Daytona Beach and Baja 1000 in Mexico. Marty inspired and supported young racers and was always willing to pitch in to fix a problem or lend his advice.
Marty is survived by his Mother Ellen Miller, his Stepfather Bill Miller, his Brother Chris Shuster and his Step-Brothers/Sisters; Paul & Rachel Bruzek, Craig & Tracey Miller, Sarah & Chris Alderson, Jeff Bruzek, Tanya & Shawn Winn & Lisa & Rick Thole.
Marty was an incredibly compassionate, kind and generous man with a zest for life. He touched many lives and encouraged people to challenge themselves. Marty was a Christian and we take solace in his early departure. We take great comfort that he has been reunited in Heaven with his beloved Father Ernie and Uncle Joe. God reached out his hand out and Marty took it. Heaven has a new angel.

I met Marty when he and Chris moved to North Georgia from Minnesota. Great memories including flying with him and attending events at `The Bunker´ on Burnt Mountain. He was full of life and I´m better for knowing him.

Marty was a great guy I always loved chating with about his cars and cool stuff he was involved in at Miller Leahman manufacturing. This is shocking news.
GREAT PERSON!

Marty, was one of my very dear friends in middle school. I have fond memories of listening to music with him, and skipping school, I got caught and he didn´t. Principal Flick was his neighbor and he knew what his car looked like and hid when he saw it coming. I didn´t, and just kept walking down the street.
