Martin Thomas

Martin Thomas, age 93 passed away March 7, 2026 at his home. Martin was born in Morganfield, Ky, Nov 24. 1932 the oldest son of Ben and Regina Thomas and lived his entire life on a farm six miles southwest of Morganfield. He married Mary Rose Riesenbeck July 31, 1965. They had five children, Joseph, Laura Ann, Jason, Marilyn and Sheila.

Martin graduated from St. Vincent Academy in 1950 where he played basketball. He kept his contact with the school system in Union County by driving the Church bus to transport the players and fans of St. Vincent to the away games. He operated the basketball game time clock for St. Vincent and Union County High School for 59 years.

Martin was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church his entire life and served on the Church council, the finance committee and the cemetery board.

Martin was a lifelong farmer and enjoyed traveling with Mary Rose and they attended many Farm Progress Shows and Farm related activities.

Martin was preceded in death by Mary Rose, his wife of 59 years and Son Joseph, his sisters Mary Ruth and Rita Catherine.

Funeral service will be 9:30 AM Wednesday, March 11, 2026 at St. Ann Catholic Church in Morganfield. Fr. Freddie Byrd will officiate.

Visitation will be 4-7 PM Tuesday and 8 AM until service time Wednesday at the funeral home.

Rosary will be said at 6:30 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery in Morganfield, KY. Memorial contributions may be made to Union County High School, c/o UCHS Basketball, 4464 US Hwy 60 West, Morganfield, KY or St. Anthony's Hospice 2410 S. Green St, Henderson, KY 42420
