Martin "Marty O" Walker

Martin Walker, age 98, passed away on January 25, 2026, peacefully at his home. Martin also lovingly called Delafonte or Marty-O was known as a devoted son, husband, father, uncle, brother, grandfather, great grandfather, great-great-grandfather, cousin and everyone's favorite "Die Hard Pittsburgh Steeler" fan!

Martin's legacy began June 29, 1927, the son of Nathaniel Walker and Mary Jane Jimerson Walker. One of 11 siblings, Martin made his mark as a football player for East High School dominating the number #44 to its fullest ability. He worked for Youngstown Sheet & Tube, Steel Door, Squaw Creek Country Club, The Jewish Temple and more for years giving his dedication and skills. His hard work didn't end when he clocked out, it continued throughout his day for 80+years.

He was a master on the grill and in the kitchen. Martin was known for throwing the biggest family gathering around Youngstown. As an avid fisherman he caught the best on his line; he took pride in his yard; and the garden he created yearly, fed his family and more. Come Christmas time, there was not a light out of place and the lawn was always cut to perfection. Martin had a gift of bringing people together, especially family with his signature HELLLLLLOOO and video camera in hand ready or not.

He leaves a family village full of love ones and friends. Martin was a member of Union Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Michael H. Harrison Sr.
