Martin J. White, known affectionately to friends and family as Marty, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2024, at Milton Hospital. Born in Boston, MA, Marty has lived in Canton for the past 58 years.
Marty was the beloved husband of the late Doris I. (Baker) and a devoted father to his two sons, Marc J. White with his wife Kathleen of Franklin, and Michael J. White with his partner Ann Foley-Collins of Canton. He took immense joy in his role as a grandfather to Quinton and Dylan White of Franklin, cherishing every moment spent with them.
Raised in Roxbury, Marty was a proud graduate of Jamaica Plain High School. He dedicated many years of his life working as the warehouse Manager for Hub Material in Canton, where he was known for his strong work ethic and amiable nature. Prior to that, Marty was a member of the Steel Workers Union, applying his skills at the Barnstead Company in West Roxbury.
Marty was also a former member of the Norwood Elks and an avid fan of Boston sports. His enthusiasm for the games was only matched by his love for attending his grandchildren's sporting events. He was a familiar and supportive presence on the sidelines, always ready to cheer them on with unwavering pride. Marty also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren at the shooting range, sharing in activities that fostered strong bonds and cherished memories.
Beyond his family and interests, Marty was known for his kind-hearted nature. He had an extraordinary ability to get along with everyone, which led him to have a large circle of friends. Marty's approachable and likable personality made him a valued friend and a beloved member of his community.
He was extremely proud of his two sons, not only for their achievements but also for the men they had become. Marty's legacy of kindness, dedication, and love for his family will continue to live on through them and his grandchildren.
Marty's life was one of commitment to his family, friends, and the joy he found in simple pleasures. He will be remembered as a kind soul who brought laughter and warmth to every room he entered. His passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew him, but his memory will be cherished forever.
As we say goodbye to Marty, we celebrate a life well-lived, full of love, laughter, and the company of good friends and family. He will be deeply missed, but the impact of his kind spirit will continue to be felt by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
