Martin Bryan Yeomans, 76, of Harkers Island, passed away on Thursday, July 31, 2025, at his home.
A funeral service to honor Bryan’s life will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, August 3rd at Grace Holiness Church, officiated by Pastor Jamison Plank. Interment will follow at Vergie Mae Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Martin was born on October 17, 1948, in Morehead City, to the late Walter and Emma Yeomans. He was a faithful member of Grace Holiness Church for many years. He made his living as a hardworking commercial fisherman, spending countless hours on the water doing what he loved. Martin also had a true passion for cooking, caring for animals, and decorating for Christmas, his favorite time of year. His home was always lit up with festive lights and warm hospitality. Martin had a generous heart and would do anything to help his friends and neighbors.
He cherished his time spent with his family and especially enjoyed watching football with his son-in-law cheering on their favorite team, the South Carolina Gamecocks. Martin was a big fan of NASCAR, he loved attending the Daytona 500 and shared great memories fishing in the Big Rock tournament in its early years. He was a devoted family man who was married to the love of his life Libby for over 55 wonderful years. Martin was a man who gave so much and asked for so little in return. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Those remaining to cherish his memory are his loving wife Elizabeth “Libby” of the home; son, Martin Yeomans of Wilmington, N.C.; daughter, Beth Briley (Bull) of Harkers Island, N.C.; nephews, Terry Yeomans (Vickie) of Harkers Island, N.C., Rodney Yeomans (Darlene) of Gloucester, N.C.; many special cousins, and his special fur babies and grand fur babies.
In addition to his parents, Martin was preceded in death by his brothers, Phillip Terry Yeomans and Phillip Terry Yeomans.
As an expression of sympathy, flowers are welcome or memorial contributions may be made to the Carteret County Humane Society, 853 Hibbs Road, Newport, N.C. 28570; or Grace Holiness Church, 127 Porter Cross Road, Harkers Island, N.C. 28531.
