Martina Hilerio Gordils, 85, of Elmhurst Illinois passed away on May 19, 2023. Martina was born in Puerto Rico and eventually moved to the Chicagoland area. She was the beloved mother of Luis (Susan) Nunez, Eddy Nunez, and Enrique (Martha) Nunez. She was the loving grandmother of Louis Enrique, Luis, III, Tammy, Crystal, Tatiana, Xavier, August Fatino, Diego, Leticia (Ari), and Alyssa (Craig) Mertz. Martina was also the great-grandmother of Jayla, Zaiden, Jordan and Karolich.
Martina was never afraid to speak her mind. She was known for being a straight shooter, and would tell things as she saw them. However she also was blessed with great comedic timing. Her grandson shared that Martina would "say something, and you didn't want to laugh, but you just had to because her delivery was just so good." She was also fascinated by words with double meanings and metaphors and loved to use these as tools as well.
Martina was also quite adventurous. She loved to travel and take cruise ships. She also never met a slot machine she did not like and was quite skilled at this as well.
She was very loved by her family, and her wit, candor, and support will be very missed.
Arrangements entrusted to Chicagoland Cremation Options, Schiller Park, IL.
