Martina Vallejo Pérez was born on September 13, 1954, in Crystal City, Texas, to Agapito and Antonia (Mendoza) Vallejo. She attended school through the second grade, and during her childhood, her family moved often as migrant workers. In 1982, they settled in Minnesota.

In October 1996, Martina met Alfonso Pérez in Florida, and they were married on May 1, 1997. Before their marriage, Martina was blessed with five children and several grandchildren. Alfonso lovingly embraced her family, helping raise her three youngest daughters and many of her grandchildren as his own. The couple made their home in Willmar, Minnesota, until purchasing a farm in Madison in 2021, where they moved the following year.

Martina took great pride in caring for her children and grandchildren. She loved having family around her and enjoyed singing, dancing, and telling bedtime stories. Known for her open heart, Martina welcomed everyone into her home with love. To many, she was a mother and grandmother figure. She and Alfonso were faithful members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Morris, Minnesota.

She is survived by her husband, Alfonso Pérez; her children, Isabel Díaz (Plácido Ledesma) of Omaha, NE, Lázaro Díaz of Willmar, Gina Díaz (Jacob Pérez) of Willmar, Yolanda Radzhabov (Emilie Perkins) of Willmar, and Angélica Dezavala (Casey Eide) of Pennock; along with 18 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. She is further survived by many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Agapito and Antonia Vallejo; sisters: San Juana Saldaña and María de Carmen Vallejo; brothers, Pedro Vallejo and Agapito Vallejo; and her daughter-in-law, Andrea Díaz.
