LOWELL, MA - Martina Rodriguez, 81, resident of Lowell, passed away on Friday, January 31, 2025, at her home, after battling cancer. She was surrounded by her loved ones. Martina was born on January 30, 1944, in Toa- Alta Puerto Rico, and spent her childhood and school age days there along with her sisters, Angela and Rosa. She married the late Cristobal Lopez and raised 7 children. Martina came to the United States, settled in Lowell, and was a full time mother and homemaker. Martina loved dancing, cooking, the color red, and for fun- painting her toenails assorted colors. She was a fan of scratch tickets, and was often found watching her Spanish channels on TV. Martina was a good neighborhood watch dog – always looking out her window to see the comings and goings of the neighborhood. Martina was a caring and loving, generous soul. She loved a good phone call and never missed the opportunity to make someone feel special. Anyone who knew Martina knew that her real joy was when she was with her grandchildren, Jinny, Adina, Rosa, Stephanie, Denise, Kayla, Tanya, Destiny, Lisette, Miguel, Andy, Dominic, Fabian, and Calvin. Martina will be missed dearly by her children; Carlos Rodriguez, Ruben Lopez, Dennis Lopez, Jose Lopez, Militza Duval, Olga Lopez, and Nilsa Lopez. She leaves behind great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Martina was also the grandmother of the late Denise Hardin.
