Marvin "Ben" Cason III

Cason – Marvin "Ben" Benjamin Cason, III, age 83, of Callahan, Florida passed peacefully on October 7, 2025, at home with his loving family by his side. A native of Jacksonville, Florida, Ben was born there on February 11, 1942, to the late Marvin Benjamin Cason, Jr. and Jewel Alvina Smith Cason. He spent most of his life in the city he loved before relocating to Callahan, Florida seven years ago. A graduate of Robert E. Lee High School in the Class of 1960, Ben went on to build a long and respected career with Local 234 Plumbers and Pipefitters, where he worked for 35 years. Known affectionately by his co-workers as "Gentle Ben," he earned a reputation for his steady demeanor and dedication to his craft. Ben was a man of many talents and passions. A self-taught artist from a young age, he expressed himself through oil and acrylic painting, chalk drawings, and metal sculptures. Ben's creativity extended beyond the canvas. He also enjoyed knife and sword smithing, blending craftsmanship with artistry in every piece he made. Ben was an avid outdoorsman and found joy in fishing, hunting, and shooting. He shared these passions with his children, teaching them not only how to hunt but also how to ride motorcycles. Ben was a devoted member of Believers Joy Worship Center in Jacksonville, Florida where his faith remained an important part of his life. Above all else, he was a wonderful husband and father whose love and guidance left a lasting impact on those closest to him. Ben is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Joan Cason Lucy; and grandson, Konner Sharp.

Ben leaves behind his loving wife, Carol Cason; children, Susan (Joe) Cason Miano of Callahan, FL, Marvin Benjamin Cason, IV of Callahan, FL, Kelli (Kyle) Cason Sharp of Hilliard, FL; brother, Tom (Peggy) Cason of Jacksonville, FL; grandchildren, Brett (Casey) Miano, Logan Miano, Lauren (Mark) Miano Moore, Sierra (Brandon) Boer; great granddaughters, Alana Moore, Stella Boer, Adelaide Boer, and Emmalyn Boer.

A Celebration of Ben's Life will be held on Monday, October 13, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. at Buford Grove Baptist Church with Pastor Lyle Shiferdek officiating. Interment will follow at Buford Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
