Marvin Edward Dietrich, 94, of Turtle Lake died Tuesday, October 21, 2025 at Amery Memory Care. He was born August 22, 1931, in Spring Valley, WI to Edward and Lucille (Schnitker) Dietrich. The family lived in Rice Lake and Birchwood before moving to Turtle Lake, where Marvin graduated high school in 1949, having spent most summers haying for area farmers. Marvin then took some time exploring his options, traveling and working his way out to Washington state, experiencing some highs and lows, before hightailing it back home after a year. He worked a short time at Koser Silo in Almena and joined the National Guard. That didn't last long, and he was honorably discharged. He married Jeannette Dado at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Almena, WI, on September 5, 1953.
Marvin and Jeanette farmed together for many years, while raising a loving family. To make ends meet, Marvin also worked at Koser Silo and ran his own crew. An opportunity arose to purchase the mobile home park in Amery, and Marvin jumped at the chance. Through the years, with five sons in 4-H and sports (baseball, football, and basketball), farming, and operating the mobile home park, they were incredibly busy. In the midst of all this, Marvin found time to take his sons fishing in Canada, serve on the school board, lead a 4-H club and coach the 4-H softball team. In 1971, he secured the financing and permits to build the 78 site Riverview Manor mobile home park, and after completion, they sold the cows. They later sold the farm to son, Mark. After retirement, they traveled extensively and spent nearly thirty years wintering in Texas and Arkansas.
He is survived by sons: Mark (Becky) Dietrich of Turtle Lake, Marvin (Kelly) Dietrich of Inver Grove Heights, MN, Mike (Deb) Dietrich of Chetek, Mitch Dietrich of Turtle Lake and Lynn (Amber) Dietrich of Vienna, VA; grandchildren: Chris (Cindy), Derek, Sean, Mariah, Matthew (Evin), Rece, Madison, and Connor; great grandchildren: Caden and Cody; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Marvin was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanette, daughter-in-law, Michelle, and sisters Marlene and Fernie. Marvin was a proud and grateful person who loved his wife and family dearly. He lived his 94 years to the fullest and truly did it his way. He passed peacefully and was completely ready to rejoin his loving wife Jeannette.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, Nov. 8, 2025 at Zion Lutheran Church in Turtle Lake with Pastor Steve Miller officiating and burial to follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery. Serving as casket bearers are Chris, Derek, Sean, Mariah, Matthew, Rece, Madison, and Connor Dietrich. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service.
