Marvin Lee Grass, 85 of Martin SD passed away on June 7, 2025 at Bennett Country Hospital, with loved ones by his side after suffering a massive stroke at home.
Marvin was born in Murdo, SD on May 30, 1940, the son of Floyd "Pete" and Faye Almira (Good) Grass. Marvin grew up and attended grade school in the Black Pipe area, he attended high school at Bennett County High. On July 6, 1959 Marvin married Jayne Miller and made their home at the Grass Homestead with her son Steve Grass, later moving to Martin, SD. To this union, Marvin and Jayne had two sons, Kevin Lee and Kelly Bert.
The family moved to Reynolds, ND in the mid 1970's, where Marvin started Grass Excavating and Contracting, as Steve and Kevin grew older, they worked alongside their dad. In 1980, Marvin spent a couple years in Dickinson, ND, hauling rock with sons Steve and Kevin for the new Patterson Dam. In 1984, Marvin headed back to Martin, SD to make this his home once again. Marvin's passion was always driving semi-truck, so he made a lifelong career of this. Marvin started his own trucking company, proudly named Eagle Express Trucking. Marvin was a hard worker his whole life, working right up to just before his death at age 85.
Marvin is survived by his granddaughters, Katie (Josh) McGregor of Grand Forks, ND and Lindsey Grass of Grand Forks, ND; daughter-in-law, Jackie Grass Koesterman of Mekinock, ND; grandsons, Landan, Jackson and Sawyer McGregor of Grand Forks, ND; nieces and nephews, Alfred (Cindy Babby) Grass of Martin, SD, Karmell (Brad Cvach) Sharp of Norris, SD, Jeri Ann Ervin of Rapid City, SD, Michael Todd Grass, Sr. of Norris, SD, and Tammy (Kevin) Reeves of Rapid City, SD; son, Steve Grass of Fargo, ND with granddaughters, Angie (Scott) Rubash of Grand Forks, ND, Erin (Danny) Knutson of Fargo, ND, Carrie Grass of Fargo, ND and Tamika Dawn Cottier of Martin SD.
Marvin was preceded in death by his sons, Kevin Lee Grass and Kelly Bert Grass; spouse, Jayne Grass; grandson, Chad Allen Grass; parents, Floyd Alfred "Pete" Grass and Faye Almira (Good) Grass; brother, Jerry Dean Grass; sister, Joyce Ann Grass; sister-in-law, Charlene "Sis" Grass; grandparents, James and Rachel (Huddleston) Grass; and daughter-in-law, Joyce Grass.
Burial Services: Grass Family Homestead, 28101 244th "Ave, Norris, SD at 10 am on Sunday, June 29, 2025.

Meal will be provided at 1:00 pm by Susan Palmer at the H&H in Martin SD, friends and family are welcome.
Thank you to the Bennett County Hospital for making Marvin comfortable during his last hours. Also, a huge Thank You, Gratitude, Appreciation and Love to Alfred, Karmell, and Tammy for being there for your Uncle Marvin and for all of the help and support you provided, along with Cynthia and Brad, we Love you all very much! Love Katie, Lindsey and Jackie.
