Marvin Lee Martsching was born July 17, 1948 in Ottumwa, Iowa to William (Bill) and Treva Martsching. He passed away August 31, 2025 at his home in Park City, Kansas due to recently developing severe skin cancer and later pneumonia.
When Marvin was 10 the family moved to Ames, Iowa where he attended grade school at the Ames Seventh-day Adventist Church School and later Oak Park Academy at Nevada, Iowa graduating in 1966. While at Oak Park Academy he was the recipient of the Good Sportsmanship Award. He graduated from Andrews University in 1971 with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration emphasis in management.
He married Allayne Petersen on July 30, 1972 in Nevada, Iowa and moved to Redfield, South Dakota where he was the bookkeeper for Wilson Brothers Concrete and later had his own business—Martsching Tax and Bookkeeping. Two boys were born to this union—Kirt Bryan in 1973 and Kyle Dean in 1978. While living in Redfield, he was active in Kiwanis serving for many years as the lunch fund treasurer. At the local Seventh-day Adventist Church he served as the church and school treasurer, head elder, head deacon, Sabbath School teacher and personal ministries leader. The family spent many nights in the fall going Ingathering to raise money to aid people around the world.
In 2000 Marvin and Allayne moved to Omaha where Marvin was the bookkeeper at Credit Advisors for 15 years before retiring. He served as the Omaha Memorial Church treasurer and coordinated the fruit program. Due to long term health issues, Marvin received a liver, pancreas, and small bowel transplant in 2010. After the transplant, Marvin enjoyed a much better quality of life.
After his retirement he moved to Park City, Kansas. He remained active—driving the Three Angels School bus, acting as treasurer for Wichita Adventist Christian Academy and Three Angels Seventh-day Adventist Church and School, serving as the head deacon for the church, coordinating the fruit program, and teaching the Earliteen Sabbath School.
Marvin was a member of the Three Angels Seventh-day Adventist Church and was always working behind the scenes, wanting to serve others—his God, his family, his church and school.
Survivors include: his wife, Allayne; sons, Kirt (Alyssa) of Moscow, Idaho, Kyle (Cassie) of Lincoln, Nebraska; brother, Paul Martsching of Ames, lowa; sister, Tracie Cameron of Des Moines, lowa; and 3 granddaughters, Kaitin, Brynn, and Dara; and by many nieces, nephews, and other loving family and friends.
