Marvin Pake, 97, of Bettie, North Carolina, passed away on Friday, July 11, 2025, at Carteret Health Care.
A funeral service to honor Marvin’s life will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, July 18th at North River Methodist Church, officiated by Rev. Dr. Douglas S. Harr. Interment will follow at North River Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Born on December 6, 1927, in Bettie, NC, Marvin was one of thirteen children born to the late Charlie and Mattie Pake. A proud veteran he honorably served in the United States Army. Following his military service, Marvin enjoyed a long and fulfilling career in Civil Service, where he made significant contributions for over 30 years as a general foreman at NADEP Cherry Point.
A man of strong faith, Marvin was devoted to the Lord and was a faithful member of North River Methodist Church. He believed in helping others and actively participated in community efforts through organizations such as the Gideons and the American Legion,
Marvin will be remembered by his family as a loving husband, wonderful father and proud grandfather and great-grandfather.
Those remaining to cherish his memory are his daughter-in-law, Debbie Pake, granddaughter, Christine Thomas and her husband Tyler, great-grandchildren, Gracen and Evelyn Thomas, and brother, Eric Pake Sr. and wife Monya, all of Bettie, several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Marvin was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Zara B. Pake; daughter, Mary Elinor Pake; son, Leslie Marvin Pake; sisters, Pauline Ross, Beatrice Hill, Martha Arthur, Kathryn Pake, and Dorothy Davis; and brothers, Clyde Pake, William “Billy” Pake, Curtis Pake, Justin Pake, Sr., Edgar Pake, and Charles “Tommy” Pake, Sr.
