Marvin D Phillips, 85, of rural Wabash, Indiana, died at 1:18 pm, Saturday, November 8, 2025, at The Waters of Wabash - East. He was born on October 3, 1940, in Means, Kentucky, to Gilbert and Ada (Branham) Phillips.
Marvin worked and retired from Fisher Body in Marion, Indiana after 34 and a half years. He married Irene Helton on August 6, 1960 in Wise, West Virginia; she died September 23, 2003. Marvin was a member of the U.A.W. He enjoyed boating, fishing, and coon hunting. He also raised bees, tended his vegetable garden, was great at tinkering on cars, tractors, and trucks. Marvin also excelled in the kitchen and was known by the family as a wonderful cook, especially his baked cookies.
He is survived by his daughter, Debbie (Robert Haupert Jr.) Phillips Turner of Wabash, three grandchildren, Adam (Krystal) Phillips of Pierceton, Indiana, Chasity (Tim) Milliner of Somerset, Indiana, and Cody (Rachael) Turner of Fort Wayne, Indiana, four great-grandchildren, Caidence Milliner, Ava Milliner, Raiden Turner, and Rowan Turner, and brothers and sister, Paul (Arretia) Phillips, Carol King, Roger (Kathy) Phillips, and Larry (Joyce) Phillips all of Winchester, and sister, Sharon Kennon of Clay City, Kentucky. He was also preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Gilbert Phillips Jr., Ray Stanley Phillips, Thurman Phillips, and Gene Phillips, and sister, Ruth Phillips Shepherd.
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm, Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Avenue, Wabash, with Pastor Terry Bradford officiating. Burial will be in Roann Community Cemetery, Roann. Friends may call 12:00 - 2:00 pm, Wednesday, at the funeral home.
Preferred memorial is Roann Community Cemetery.
