Marvin Gene Wright, DDS, MAGD, 83, of Wabash, Indiana, died Thursday, September 25, 2025, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He was born on October 21, 1941, in Greensburg, Indiana, to Sheldon and Opal (Clapp) Wright.
Marvin was a 1959 graduate of St. Paul High School in St. Paul, Indiana, a graduate of Butler University in Indianapolis, served in the Air Force R.O.T.C., and a graduate of the Indiana University School of Dentistry. He married Lucretia "Jean" Beck in Greenfield, Indiana on July 21, 1962; she died November 14, 2019. He married Judy Anne Ward at the Wabash Christian Church on June 25, 2023; she died September 4, 2024. He then married Jane Willmert at Manchester University Chapel on July 19, 2025. Dr. Wright had a dental practice in Wabash from 1966 until his retirement in 2009. He was a Master in the Academy of Dentistry, and served as the President of the Indiana Dental Association. He was a longtime member of the Optimist Club, and was very involved organizing and umpiring in the Optimist Youth Softball League. Dr. Wright was a longtime member and Elder of the Wabash Christian Church, and went on several mission trips to Haiti. He also was in charge of the F.I.S.H. gardens at the church. Dr. Wright was an avid woodworker. He shared his passion for Christ, using woodworking and gardening, with others including mentoring youth and adults through gardening and woodworking. Dr. Wright never met a stranger - he could and would talk to anyone. He loved to tell stories, especially about his children and grandchildren, of whom he was incredibly proud. He also loved to share his woodworking, especially his resurrection bowls, which he gave to people who exemplified Christ. He was one of the most giving people. He would go out of his way to be able to help someone, and loved to take people to Michigan on fishing trips.
He is survived by his wife, Jane Wright of Wabash; three children, Nancy JoAnn Stephens of Fishers, Indiana, Josef (Laura) Wright of Wabash, and Jill Marie (John) Denman of Huntington; four grandchildren, Samuel Denman of Huntington, Willow Denman of Muncie, Indiana, Zachary Denman of Huntington, and Julia Stephens of Fishers, Indiana; and his sister, Nancy (Greg) Finch of Noblesville, Indiana. He was also preceded in death by his parents.
