Horseheads, New York
Passed away on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at 77. Mary Ellen was born on April 10, 1948, in Elmira, NY, to the late Paul D., Sr. and Mary Caporiccio Baker. She was also predeceased by her brother, Paul D. Baker, Jr., and sister-in-law, Sandra K. Baker.
Mary Ellen is survived by her significant other, David Welles; sons, Ronald, Jr., (Sarah) Briggs, and Chad Paul Briggs (Emily Crockett); grandchildren, Aleah Briggs; Rebecca "Sissy" (Garrett) Seymour, Garrette "Gare Bear" Briggs, and Boe "Boe-Boe" Briggs; great-grandchildren, Ivy and Lilly; brother, James A., Sr. (Patricia Ramich) Baker; sister-in-law, Mary Ann Baker; nieces and nephews, Stephanie R. Baker and Jimmy, Jr. (Liz) Baker; Michael Baker, Hon. Chris Baker, and Jennifer Squires; and several extended family members and friends.
Mary Ellen retired after more than 20 years from GST BOCES in Horseheads. She attended Rochester Institute of Business and then graduated from Elmira College with a Bachelor of Science in Education. She loved her boys and spent hours "putting up with her hooligan sons."
The family will welcome relatives and friends at Baker Family Funeral Home/Sullivan's Funeral Home, 365 E. Franklin St., at Rt. 13 on Monday, May 12, 2025, from 4 P.M. – 6 P.M. Funeral Service will follow at 6 P.M. with Father John DeSocio. Interment in St. Peter and Paul's Cemetery on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at 11 A.M. www.bakerfamilyfuneralhome.com
