Mary Ann Pinon, age 93, died peacefully at Stone Creek of Littleton on October 14, 2025. Born to Emery and Garnet Barclay on October 27, 1931 in Little River, Kansas, she was a graduate of McPherson High School in McPherson, Kansas. Mary Ann went on to earn a Bachelor's Degree from Kansas State University with dual majors in Journalism and Home Economics. In April 1953, she married Walter Eugene (Gene) Pinon. They moved from Kansas to Colorado in 1957, where they lived first in Denver, then Boulder, and finally in Westminster. She worked for many years as an Administrator at the University of Colorado in Boulder.
Mary Ann loved the outdoors, spending many days hiking in the Colorado mountains. She also enjoyed traveling, adventuring with Gene, and then with groups of friends on numerous international trips. A lifelong member of Disciples of Christ churches, her faith played an important role in her life. She will be remembered by those who knew her for her sense of humor and her love of words and language.
She is survived by her children, Dirk & Sue Pinon of Sun City West, AZ, Kyra Pinon of Greeley, CO, Deidre & Roger Eilts of Prairie Village, KS, and Shawn & JoEllen Pinon of Littleton, CO. Six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren also survive her. She is also survived by two brothers-in-law, two sisters-in-law, and several nieces and nephews.
Celebration of Life service will take place on October 27th at Horan & McConaty. The family requests no flowers. In her memory, please take a walk and enjoy the beauty around you.
