Mary Anne Shamatta

March 7, 1951 – August 17, 2025

Mary Anne Shamatta, 74, of Atlanta, Georgia, entered into eternal rest on August 17, 2025, surrounded by her family and strengthened by the sacraments of the Holy Catholic Church.

Born on March 7, 1951, in Springfield, Massachusetts, Mary Anne was the beloved daughter of Raymond and Evelyn Stevens. She lived a life guided by faith, service, and devotion to her family.

A devoted parishioner of St. Joseph Maronite Catholic Church, Mary Anne faithfully served in the Ladies' Altar Society for more than 40 years and as head of the Confraternity of Christian Doctrine (CCD) program for over 18 years. She found deep comfort in prayer, the Eucharist, and the promise of everlasting life in Christ.

Mary Anne is survived by her husband of over 50 years, Elias (Louie) J. Shamatta; her four children, Steven, Peter, Joseph, and Michaele Shamatta; five cherished grandchildren; and her brothers, Joseph, Paul, and Raymond. She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Evelyn Stevens, and her brothers, Louis, Mark, and Michael Stevens.

The family will receive friends during visitation at Crowell Brothers Funeral Home in Peachtree Corners, GA, on Wednesday, August 20, from 4:00–7:00 p.m. An additional visitation will be held on Thursday, August 21, from 9:00–11:00 a.m., followed by the celebration of the Divine Liturgy at St. Joseph Maronite Catholic Church, 6025 Glenridge Dr., Atlanta, GA 30328.
