Mary Ruth (Huls) Bengtson, age 86, passed away on September 28, 2025, in Rayville Missouri. She was born to Jefferson Huls and Laverna Doris (Spunaugle) Huls on June 10, 1939 and raised in Welch, Oklahoma.
She met Leon Bengtson at Clever convention in 1960 and they were married on August 3, 1961. They enjoyed 63 years together. They farmed in Colo Iowa for 30+ years moving to Lancaster, Missouri, in the late 90's where they continued to breed and raise registered Charlois cattle. Upon retiring, they started and ran Marlen Kennels for 10 years in Greentop, Missouri, before moving to Sedalia Missouri in 2018.
Mary is preceded in death by her husband Leon, her parents, her brother Bill and wife Leota Huls, Leon's brothers and wives: Leonard and Donna Bengtson, Wendell and Wilma Bengtson, and Edgar and Louise Bengtson. She is survived by three generations of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Mary made her choice to serve the Lord as a teenager. It was her greatest joy and she stayed true to that purpose to the very end.
A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at Rea Funeral Chapel.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the chapel.
Burial will be held at Highland Sacred Gardens, Sedalia.
