Mary Ruth Bergeron, of Tenaha, TX passed away peacefully on January 11, 2025 at her daughter’s home in Natchitoches, LA with her loving husband of 49 years, Joseph Bergeron, her children and family by her side.
Mary was born on September 22, 1957 to Nina Faye Powell Tilton and William Harold Tilton in Shreveport, LA. After graduating from Fair Park High School in 1975, she married her high school sweetheart, Joseph Bergeron, and together raised two children, Ricky and Kelly. Mary had a beautiful smile and a kind heart and was always willing to help others in need. Those attributes will live on in the memories of all who knew and loved her. She loved God and humbly served in her church. She was a hard worker with every endeavor she pursued. She possessed a natural ability to make quick friends with everyone she met. In her spare time, she enjoyed fishing and watching westerns and of course spending time with her grandchildren.
Mary was known for her high intellect, amazing cooking, and devotion to family and friends. Mary will be deeply missed and remembered forever by all that knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her dad, William Harold Tilton, her mother, Nina Faye Tilton, her in-laws, Monroe and Clara Sepulvado, her brother, William Harold “Bill” Tilton, Jr., grandson, Ricky Joe Bergeron and brother-in-law, Roy Vedros.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Joseph Bergeron of Tenaha, TX; son, Ricky Bergeron and partner, Crystal of Campti, LA; daughter, Kelly May and husband Jason of Natchitoches, LA; granddaughters Cassianne, Gracie, Mary Katelyn, who is her grandmother’s namesake, and Emma Claire; grandsons, Deacon and Kylan; sister, Nita Vedros; sister-in-law, Sharon Tilton; as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family.
A memorial service to honor her life will be held in Tenaha, TX at a later date.
