On his 79th birthday, October 22, 2025, Charles “Chuck” Herrington, was called home to his Savior, Jesus Christ. Born in Mansfield, LA to William Eber and Willie Belle Herrington, Charles later resided in Natchitoches, Louisiana where he lived a life that reflected the love of Christ in all he did.
Chuck’s greatest joy was knowing and serving Jesus. He walked in faith daily — not just in words, but in the way he loved people, forgave easily, and lent a helping hand wherever it was needed. He never missed an opportunity to share the hope he found in the Lord, and his humble strength and kindness drew others toward that same light. He was a member and deacon at First Baptist Church of Natchitoches, which he loved and served faithfully.
For 60 years, Chuck shared his life with his beloved wife, Janet Shetley Herrington. He was deeply proud of his three children and 9 grandchildren, who he raised to know the Lord, and his three great-grandchildren, each of whom brought him immense joy. For close to 40 years, he was a teacher, coach and administrator that made an immeasurable impact on so many lives.
Chuck believed that every blessing came from God. He lived each day with gratitude, humility, and the certainty of eternal life in Christ.
A celebration of Chuck’s life will be held in Natchitoches on Saturday, October 25 at 11 am at First Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor his memory by giving to Samaritan’s Purse.
