Mary Blessinger Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Garr Funeral Services on Feb. 9, 2026.
Mary E. Blessinger, beloved mother, grandmother, and cherished member of the Sellersburg community, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 8, 2026, at the age of 92.

Born and raised in Sellersburg, Indiana, on September 7, 1933, to Christian and Mary Ann Henderzahs, Mary lived a full and vibrant life dedicated to her family, faith, and the simple joys of nature. She was a devoted homemaker, finding fulfillment in nurturing her children and delighting in the growth of her garden. She enjoyed sharing her vegetable yields with her friends and family.

Mary was happily married to her late husband, Claude Blessinger, with whom she shared a passion for hiking and taking long, leisurely walks in the scenic surroundings of Indiana. Together, they cultivated a home filled with love, adventure, and shared interests.

She was a faithful parishioner of St. John Paul II Catholic Church, where she found spiritual nourishment and community. Her love for word search puzzles often mirrored her approach to life – finding joy and satisfaction in uncovering the hidden beauty and complexity around her.

Mary is survived by her loving sons, Charles Blessinger (Cheryl) and David Blessinger (Sue). She leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Jordan Blessinger, Kaelin Pierce (Duncan), Katie Blessinger, John Blessenger, and Maggie Blessenger, who will carry forward her legacy of love and resilience.

Preceded in death by her dear spouse Claude, her parents, and her son Michael Blessinger, Mary's spirit now finds peace among them, reunited in eternal rest.

Friends and family are invited to a Funeral Mass to honor Mary's life and legacy at St. John Paul II Catholic Church in Sellersburg, Indiana, on Thursday, February 12, 2026, at 11:00 A.M. Interment will follow at St. Joe Hill Catholic Cemetery. To on honor Mary's wishes a public visitation will not be held.
