Mary Pardue Bost

Mary Bost, age 89, passed away on September 25, 2025. She was born February 7, 1936, in North Wilkesboro, to the late Walter Smith Pardue and Cloyce Blackburn Pardue.

Mary was born and raised in Wilkes County and attended Mountain View High School. Following a 30-year career with the Wake County Tax Office, she retired as Assistant Tax Collector. She resided with her family in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Mary cherished spending time with family, visiting Surf City beach, traveling worldwide with friends, and gardening. She was an active presence for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, joining them on many trips and important moments. As a member of both the NC and Neighborhood Garden Clubs, she volunteered for the Martha Franck Garden and maintained her own beautiful garden.

Mary is survived by her children: Danny Bost (Carolyn), Mike Bost (Judy); grandchildren: Justin Bost (Samantha), Andrew Bost (Jessica); great-grandchildren: Landon, Hudson, Colton, Kennedy; and sisters: Dixie Blackburn, Linda Long, Suzie Jordan.

In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Lonnie Bost; brothers: Jim Alexander, Pete Pardue; sister, Betty Bodenhamer.

Memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm, on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service Chapel, 944 Old Knight Road, Knightdale.

The family will receive friends and relatives, prior to the service, from 2:00 to 3:00 pm. Light refreshments will be provided.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Martha Franck Fragrance Gardens through The Garden Club of North Carolina.
