Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hanley Funeral Home, Inc. - Staten Island on Apr. 30, 2025.
Mary Teresa Capdevielle (née Mondido) passed away peacefully at home in Parlin, New Jersey on Monday, April 28, 2025, at the age of 64. Born on April 29, 1960, in Brooklyn, she moved to Staten Island with her family as a young girl. Mary attended St. Margaret Mary's School and St. John Villa Academy, later earning her degree from St. John's University. Mary spent much of her career at the Seton Foundation, where she made a lasting impact before retiring a few years ago. In 1984, she married the love of her life, John Capdevielle, and together they shared 40 beautiful years of marriage. She is survived by her de-voted husband John, and their three daughters: Christine Capdevielle and daughter-in-law Jennifer Foy; Lauren Dano and son-in-law Georgio ; and Kaitlin Capdevielle and fiancé Genesis Chua. Mary was a proud and loving grandmother to Vincent, Gabriel, and Aurora, as well as step-grandmother to Victoria, Olivia, and Gavin. Mary is also survived by her beloved mother, Hermana Mondido, and her brother, Anthony Mondido. She was predeceased by her father, Bienvenido Mondido, and her sister, Dorothy. Mary will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She had a passion for baking, cooking and arts and crafts. Mary loved fresh flowers, and had a gift for making holidays and birthdays magical. She cherished family gatherings, enjoyed trying new restaurants, watching Hallmark and found great joy in spending time with her grandchildren and watching them grow. Taken too soon, Mary's warmth, kindness, and generous spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Visitation will be held at Hanley Funeral Home, 60 New Dorp Lane, on Thursday, May 1 from 7- 9 PM, and Friday, May 2 from 2–4 PM and 7 - 9 PM. Funeral services will take place on Saturday, May 3 at 10:30 AM at St. Christopher's R.C. Church, 130 Midland Avenue.
