“I’ve had a good life.” – Mary Loretta Carr
Mary Loretta Carr, 93, of Louisburg, Kansas, passed away peacefully on October 23, 2025.
“I’ve had a good life.” This refrain was one of Mary’s favorite expressions-sometimes seriously contemplative, but more often than not, teasingly sarcastic. It perfectly reflected her outlook: content in her circumstances, full of gratitude, and always ready to laugh. Mary truly loved life-and loved people even more.
A woman of deep faith with a zest for living, Mary’s enduring love touched everyone she met-and it was always returned. She loved big and welcomed everyone into her circle. When you were with Mary, you felt like one of the family.
She shared a beautiful life with her late husband and love of her life, Robert A. Carr. Together they built a home filled with open hearts, laughter, the smells of home cooking, and the joyful chaos of four children: Robert D. Carr, Rick A. Carr, John R. Carr, and Cindy L. Casey.
Mary’s love extended through generations, embracing fifteen grandchildren and many great-grandchildren who adored their “Nanny.”
Her warm smile, infectious laughter, and gentle wisdom will be cherished forever.
Throughout her life, Mary was guided by love, kindness, grace, and unwavering care for everyone she met. Those fortunate enough to know her will remember her gentile spirit and joyful heart as something to aspire to.
There will be a private family celebration of life to honor Mary. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Spring Hill Care and Rehab or VNA of Kansas City in gratitude for their care and compassion, c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, P.O. Box 669, Louisburg, Kansas 66053.
